BRAIN-Station 3
Yet another example of your tax dollars at work, the U.S. Air Force conducted testing by linking 2,000 PlayStation 3 consoles to create a supercomputer, and not meant, apparently, to run the world's largest Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer session. The military's news publication "Stars and Stripes" (which by the way sounds a lot like Captain America), reports the Air Force plans to put the PS3's to work performing various studies. One of these studies centers on neuromophic (as in evolving brain) computing which, according to the Stripes, "mimics human nervous systems." Mark Barnell, the lab's high performance computing director, is quoted saying: "In general sense, we are interested in making [the supercomputer] autonomous." The answer is yes by the way, to the question that this project is funded by a 2 million dollar grant... So let's do some word replacement shall we... Let's change "Air Force" to "Cyberdine Systems", how about "Mark Barnell" to "Miles Bennett Dyson", and "2,000 PS3's" to oh what the hell, let's just call that "Skynet" ...
