The Beginning Of A Legend

"Enter: Oveous Maximus"

There comes a time when you meet someone that not only inspires you but brings something new to the table. When I met Oveous Maximus he did exactly just that. Not only were his words on point but his performance gave me a sense of pride to have the same Dominican heritage, and I admit that I really don't raise that flag as I should. After hearing some of Oveous's delivery & word flow, one can only be inspired to write or do something creative. I am also glad that he was able to bless us with his presence at the last Culture Clash event as our special guest feature.
It was only a few years ago that Oveous Maximus introduced himself to the world as a poet/spoken word artist, when he was just a rapper from the streets of Lil D.R., otherwise known a
s Washington Heights in New York City, just trying to honor the memory of his late brother's gift after he passed.
Since his appearances at the world famous Apollo theater, and on the critically acclaimed HBO series Def Poetry produced by Russel Simmons; he is now ready to show you who he really is
.. a Music aficionado....

check out these 2 songs from the upcoming mixtape album "Future Intentions" which will be available for free download very soon... so stay tuned for the release party ...

Culture Clash Nov. 11, 2008

Culture Clash Nov. 11th 2008

One of the many things that we do to is show a lot of support to the local scene. Culture Clash is exactly that. We decided to get involved with some local talent and put together something that would showcase and bridge gaps between genres like music and spoken word. All this is really about transcending the idea that groups should be separated, when clearly culture is all around us....

Nov. 11th 2008 marked our first crack at getting people together for a common purpose. Quoting 'the Matrix'; "Without purpose we would not exist. It is purpose that created us. Purpose that connects us. Purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us. It is purpose that defines. Purpose that binds us." With that said, we had a pretty good turn out and even had some great performances. Poets from all over and a few musicians as well....
